Web2 · Web3 · XRPL

We don't pitch.
We ship.

Senior product and engineering. We architect the system, run the project, write the code, and tell you the truth. No discovery decks. No vendor circus. No babysitting.

A Based Software, LLC operation

Services

Six things. We do them well. We refer out the rest.

Web2 Product Development

Full-stack web apps. APIs, databases, frontends, deployment. We've shipped systems that scaled to millions and didn't fall over. That's the bar.

Web3 & Blockchain Integration

Token issuance. AMM liquidity. Trust lines. NFT systems. Wallet flows. On-chain game economies. We work across multiple chains — XRPL is our deepest specialty, and we've been shipping on it longer than most of the consultants on this stack have known what an issuer account is.

Talk to us ↗

Fractional CTO & Technical Leadership

Senior technical judgment on retainer. Architecture, vendor calls, hiring help, the board update you don't want to write. Without the equity stack, the title politics, or the full-time burn rate.

Project Rescue & Takeover

Previous agency walked? Founding engineer ghosted? Codebase one bad merge from a production fire? We've cleaned up worse. No ego, no blame — just get it shipping again.

Product & Engineering Discovery

Two to four weeks. Fixed price. You walk away with a real architecture, a real estimate, and a build plan you could hand to anyone. Not a deck. Not a roadmap of buzzwords. A plan.

Game Development

Browser-native games — single-player, multiplayer, on-chain economies, the whole stack. Real game design, real game loops. Not a token wrapper around a clicker. Fury Zone, Fury Felines, Catra — the case studies prove it.

Our approach

Four phases. Same playbook every time. We don't skip discovery to save time — we do it so we don't waste yours.

DISCOVER. DESIGN. BUILD. OPERATE. — HELLO Consulting's four-phase approach
01

Discover

We start by understanding your problem, not your solution. Interviews, system audits, competitive context, and a clear-eyed read on what's actually at risk.

What you get: a written brief, constraints map, and a go/no-go recommendation.

02

Design

System architecture, data models, and interface structure — decided before a line of production code is written. We document decisions and their tradeoffs.

What you get: architecture diagram, tech stack rationale, and a scoped build plan.

03

Build

We write the code, run the sprints, and ship tested software. Weekly updates. No black boxes. You see progress in staging before it goes anywhere near production.

What you get: working software, test coverage, and deployment documentation.

04

Operate

Post-launch isn't an afterthought. Monitoring, incident response, dependency updates, and a clear handoff plan if you're building an internal team to take it from here.

What you get: runbooks, retainer options, and a system that doesn't surprise you at 2 AM.

How we engage

We work in three structures, depending on what the project needs.

Discovery

A fixed-scope, fixed-price engagement (typically two to four weeks) to define the problem, assess technical options, and produce a build plan. Standalone, with no obligation to continue.

Fixed-bid Build

For well-defined projects with clear deliverables. We agree on scope, timeline, and price up front. Change orders are handled transparently — no silent scope creep.

Retainer

Ongoing technical leadership or development capacity, billed monthly. Useful for teams that need senior judgment available week over week — not just during a sprint.

Who we are

HELLO Consulting is a small, senior product studio operated by Based Software, LLC. We're not 40 people on a bench. Not an offshore handoff dressed up in a Western URL. Not a brand-new agency built on somebody else's resume.

We're operators who ship. That's the whole pitch.

We've been writing production code since before Web3 was a word and Web2 didn't need the qualifier. We've shipped products, live games, and on-chain systems across multiple blockchains. We pick up the work, we get it done, we send the invoice. The end.

James C.

Principal — Engineering

If it ships, he wrote it, reviewed it, or rebuilt it. Architecture, code, and the truth about what's broken. Turns napkin sketches into production.

Pablo T.

Principal — Strategy & Healthcare

The relationships, the deals, the doors that open quietly. Deep healthcare operator with a knack for the offer that's hard to refuse.

HC

Mascot — At Large

Refuses meetings. Approves every commit. No opinions about your tech stack. Has somehow accumulated a token, a game, and a following.

HELLO Consulting is a brand of Based Software, LLC, which builds and operates products and studios across Web2 and Web3. More at basedcompany.net.

$HELLO on XRPL

$HELLO is a community token we issued on the XRP Ledger in 2024. It funds open-source work, rewards the community, and ties into our gaming ecosystem. Started as a memecoin. Grew teeth. There's a whole side of the site dedicated to it — HC the cat, the Catra game, the lore. If you came in through Twitter, you probably came for this.

Frequently asked

How do you price engagements?

Depends on the work. Discovery is fixed-price — you know the number before we start. Builds are fixed-bid against a scoped statement of work; forces both sides to think before they sign. Retainers are monthly with a defined hours floor. We're direct about rates on the first call. No mystery quotes after a two-week evaluation circus.

How long does a typical project take?

Discovery: two to four weeks. A focused MVP: eight to sixteen weeks. Larger systems with real integrations take longer. We don't quote a timeline until we've done the work to estimate one honestly. "Typical" is a word that hides a lot of bad scoping.

Do you take equity instead of cash?

Sometimes. Only when we believe in the business and the equity structure is real. We don't trade equity for discounted rates as a default. That conversation happens during discovery — not as a negotiating tactic on the intro call.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. We use our standard mutual NDA but will review yours. Two things we won't sign: an NDA that pretends public information is confidential, or one that prevents us from listing your company in our portfolio. We flag both up front.

Who owns the IP we build together?

You do. All work product is assigned to the client on final payment. We retain no license to the code, designs, or systems we build for you. If we bring in pre-existing tools or frameworks, we disclose them and confirm they're compatible with your ownership needs. No surprises later.

Do you work with non-technical founders?

Yes, and we're honest that it changes the engagement. More translation. More documentation. More pushing back on a bad idea without being a jerk about it. We've done this. We tell you what we're doing and why — not hand you a black box you can't maintain.

Can you take over an existing codebase?

Yes. We've inherited everything from legacy spaghetti to abandoned freelancer wreckage. Start with an audit: read the code, document what exists, find the structural problems, give you an honest read on what's worth keeping. Some gets rescued. Some gets rewritten. We tell you which.

What if we already have a design team?

Good. We play well with in-house and contracted designers. We operate within your design system, implement to spec, and flag implementation issues early — not after three rounds of revision. No design team and need light UX inside the build? We can handle that within scope.

Do you do ongoing maintenance?

Yes. Monthly retainers cover dependency updates, security patches, bug fixes, and a defined response SLA. We'd rather maintain what we built than hand it to someone who doesn't know why decisions were made. That said, we write docs thorough enough that another team could take over cleanly. Your call.

Why is there a cat?

HC is the mascot from a community token we issued in 2024. He stuck around. He doesn't attend calls, doesn't have opinions about your tech stack, and has never written a line of code. He's on the favicon. He approves every commit. Some things don't need to be fully explained.
